Gowns by Silhouette....

For you soon to be brides on the quest for the perfect dress, this post is for you!! Finding the right gown can be an arduous task when you have no clue what to look for. Finding the perfect silhouette is key to finding the right dress for your body type. Here are some key points to think about when dress shopping:

#1: Set a budget.
Setting a budget is key, as it ensures you don't set your heart on a gown you just can't afford. It also give the bridal attendant at the store a jumping off point of what gowns to show you.

#2: What to Expect at the Bridal Shop.
Most bridal store require an appointment if you want to try on gowns. Make sure you set aside enough time the day of your appointment that you aren't rushed. You want this is be a special experience. When deciding who should join you during your gown buying experience,  pick someone supportive, who will enjoy sharing the special day with you. Try to keep your group small, as larger groups tend to make more havoc when it comes to opinion time.

Most sample gowns are between size 8-12. Check with your local bridal store to see what range of sizes they stock in sample gowns. This will ensure that you will be able to try on gowns that fit you! Also, trust the bridal consultant's opinion. They see brides every day and have a good keen eye for what gown might look best on you, even if it isn't what you had first envisioned for your day. Keep an open mind, and have fun with it!

Ball Gown
Introduced by Queen Victoria, reimagined by Dior in the 1950s, and never long out of fashion, this is the most romantic of all bridal silhouettes. It features a small waist (natural or dropped) and a voluminous skirt with petticoats. Most flattering to women of at least average height with hourglass or full figures, this style's skirt will overwhelm a petite or particularly buxom bride. Depending on the fabric, the skirt can appear weightless or heavy.

A-Line

This enduring style's name comes from the triangle (or "A" shape) between the narrow bodice and outer edges of the wide, un-gathered skirt. Suitable for a variety of fabrics, the A-line is versatile: It may or may not have a seam at the waist, which may be higher or lower than the natural waistline; and the close-fitting bodice may be strapless or have any type of neckline.

Empire

After the French Revolution, Napoleon's wife Josephine popularized this neoclassical dress with a very high waist; the sheer materials she chose caused a sensation. The cropped bodice of the Empire style flatters the small-breasted woman but not a more buxom bride; the raised waist creates a long line, ideal for a petite bride. The skirt may be straight, slightly flared, or even as wide as an A-line.

Sheath

If you are comfortable with showing off your curves, consider the slyly constructed sheath, popularized in the 1950s by Marilyn Monroe. This body-hugging profile is artfully sculpted with darts, tucks, and seams. The effect will differ depending on the weight and drape of the fabric. A great choice for a tall, slim-hipped woman, the sheath is equally becoming to a petite, slender bride. Avoid this style if you have wide hips but narrow shoulders.

Trumpet

A trumpet dress hugs the body at the top and through the hips but jets out into a fuller skirt at the bottom. This style is also referred to as mermaid.

Short
Short dresses have a hem that is above or just slightly below the knee, and they typically aren't found in any of the other categories.

Now a days, designers are mixing silhouettes and changing things up all the time, from slim a-line gowns, to asymmetrical gowns, to off the shoulder gowns, there are lots of options when choosing something unique for you!

More wedding Bouquets...

Zinnias... GLORIOUS!

These Anemones are so incredible!

I love this idea, Bridesmaid bouquets each a shade of pink and each made of a single type of flower. What a cool modern twist on a traditional bridal party bouquet.

Simply gorgeous. I love peonies!

Cabbage Roses... simply DIVINE!

I love the organic shape the Chinese lantern's add to this bouquet. Simply unique and stunning!
